Transcript of video

Time in my view is the continuity of memory using the ego as an internal reference point. When we break the barrier of ego, the self-image, we break the barrier of time.

So time is the separation that occurs when there is the differentiation of our consiousness into observer, process of observation and that which is observed. And then how we measure our observations through the creation of an artificial observer gives us the experience of time.

In fact, there is no time—there is only eternity. The measurement of eternity is symbolized as the measurement of time. And, of course, how we metabolize our experience of time, is the way our bodies undergo entropy. So if we are running out of time, we literally run out of time biologically. People who say “I’m running out of time”, they have speeded up biological clocks. Faster heart rates [inaudible]. And they drop dead of premature heart attacks. They run out of time.

If you are in love time stops. The intoxication of love allows you to experience unity consciousness and timelessness. If you are bored, time drags. And entropy is the metabolism of time.

I have a lot more to say about the nature of time, but I’m running out of time. So, see you next time, or let me know what you think.

Deepak Chopra salvo’s another interesting round of points on religion, science, God, Einstein, and such.

The “Soul Hypothesis”, Part 1

The “Soul Hypothesis”, Part 2

The “Soul Hypothesis”, Part 3

The “Soul Hypothesis”, Part 4

The “Soul Hypothesis”, Part 5

Make room for thougth. A couple of key points:

Atheism is a weak position in terms of science simply becasue it lacks any system of proof—trying to prove that something doesn’t exist is nearly impossible.

What would it be like to experimentally prove that the soul exists? If you believe in it, start collecting evidence.

The list of soul qualities is a familiar one:

The soul is your connection to God or the divine—test: Are you connected to God and the divine?

The soul is the source of existence—test: Have you experienced your source?

The soul is the seat of bliss or eternal happiness—test: Can happiness be reached beyond everyday pleasure and pain?

The soul exists beyond death; it is the seed of immortality—test: Is there such a thing as inner being that is beyond death? Am I going to live beyond the body?

Faith and doubt, the two forced choices that millions of people make, turn out to be almost equally fruitless.

Make some progress, where spiritual progress is defined more simply and clearly if the following conditions are met:

Your soul becomes more real.

Your soul becomes more useful.

Your vision of transformation is coming true.

And some key differences between the ego and the soul:

The ego seeks temporary satisfaction, the soul offers permanent satisfaction.

The ego seeks happiness through externals, the soul through inner unfoldment.

The ego wants constant sensation, the soul provides silent peace.

The ego desperately wants to survive, the soul knows it will never die.

The ego competes, the soul cooperates.

The ego sees a world of lack, the soul a world of abundance.

The ego struggles, the soul awaits.

The ego seeks protection because of its deep insecurity, the soul needs no protection because it is secure already.

The ego knows how to take, the soul how to receive.

The ego feels separate and alone, the soul identifies with wholeness.

The ego longs for love, the soul is love.

The ego puts the material world first, the soul puts consciousness first. (How “Goswami“)

At this moment, your allegiance is to “I, me, and mine,” and shifting your allegiance to the soul must replace ego demands with something new.

Reminds me of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s videoclip “What About Me?“:

Sheldrake and Chopra have my votes. And I sure hope Dawkins will continue his current quest. The more energy he puts into it, the faster we will evolve our current ways of thinking. We need guys like Dawkins. He fuels the research on the ever so important area if spirituality, religion, and morphogenesis.

Tot eind 2007 staan daar vele artikelen, videos en podcasts om niet beschikbaar. Eat your heart out.

Met een paar verhelderende en prettig verstorende video’s van Deepak Chopra.

The Definition and Source of Consciousness.

The Simultaneity of Consciousness.

Discontinuity of the Universe.

Consciousness matters. Thoughts become things™. Consiousness is the phenomenon. Everything else is epiphenomenon.

Some notes from Deepak Chopra’s talk on consciousness:

Another word for God: field of awareness which is “a-causal, non-local, quantum-mechanical interrelatedness” that operates with simultaneity.

Chronobiology studies the biological rythms (Earth, Moon, Sun, seasons…) that play the symphony of your life with exquisite correlation.

You mirror the intelligence of the cosmos.

Reductionism is dead. We are at its funeral at the moment.

Deepak Chopra writes:

…there are more school kids with high IQs in China than there are school kids in the United States. Or that a single week of the New York Times contains more information than the average person absorbed in a lifetime in the 18th century. The overall message is that the world is changing exponentially. Information doubles every couple of years while the price of computers gets cut in half. If such trends continue, the market will produce a $1,000 computer in our lifetime with more capacity than the human brain.

—Shift happens

In part 2, Chopra continues to say:

…When it first came into usage, “the global brain” seemed like only a metaphor. But the more we learn about how the human brain functions, the more convincing the parallels are in real life. In many ways each of us is participating in a brain without borders, one that encompasses humankind. I’d like to focus on several striking similarities between individual and collective intelligence.

—Reality is shaped by perception

And in part 3, he states:

…Trying to understand the global brain with the same objectivity that science explores the human brain is difficult, because every society is enmeshed in the global brain. None of us occupies a privileged position outside and apart. Our personal perceptions are often overwhelmed by influences from collective consciousness — this is why so few people are able to separate themselves from fear of terrorism, for example, and why the vast majority don’t even try. Yet the more objectively we observe the global brain, the more understanding it yields.

Let me continue with describing some of the salient features that are common to an individual brain and the global brain.

—The entire brain is invisibly correlated

Some other key points:

The global brain is more than the sum of all individual brains. It’s a web of collective intelligence…

…that the global brain is taking an evolutionary leap at this very minute…

…It’s been estimated that as many as a million new connections are formed per minute during this phase. If something like that is happening on a global scale, two massive trends are colliding.…

…One trend is downward. It consists of everything calamitous that one reads about in the newspaper: global warming, epidemic disease, political upheaval, warring religions, and a tide of refugees extending beyond old national boundaries.…

En dat weer naar aanleiding van antwoorden in de vorm van formules op de zelfde vraag van toonaangevende wetenschappers op The Edge.

Mijn formule nu is:

wenskunst × wilskracht = scheppend vermogen

Oh ja, en Pareltaal is oneindig krachtig volgens Dawkins’ formule, want:

Power of Pareltaal = Honderden fraai gecultiveerde parels ÷ Nul (0) aannames.

Nul (0) aannames omdat elke parel op de realiteit is gebaseerd, uit het leven gegrepen. En als je iets door nul deelt is het resultaat oneindig.

Gaston Vilé was searching for the essential difference between consciousness and awareness. While on the phone, I told him that Amit Goswami’s The Self-Aware Universe has an extensive point on this very difference. I promised Gaston to make the key pages available to him, and so I did.

While on his search, Gaston found the website of the artist and painter Anton Heyboer. Heyboer already mentions quantum physiscs and Amit Goswami’s points. A summary:

Consciousness and Awareness—on wavicles and quantum (in Dutch);

Bloodpressure of 65-90 indicates God’s trinity—on Heyboer’s limbic brain;

Yggdrasil and the circle—quoting Goswami: “consciousness is God”

Heyboer also talks about God. I tend to use the term Universe latelely. Although I was raised as a Christian (gereformeerd), my scope is widened to include many, if not all, religions around the world. Buddhism as it’s most neutral and integral one (and Buddhism is not a religion, as you may know). The term “Universe”, for me, is more, yes, universal. God is still this almighty bearded person for me.

At home in the Universe, as Stuart Kaufman said.

How coincidental. Yesterday Thomas Herald from Dream Manifesto writes about Longest running study shows helping others makes us happy.

And today I receive Mike Dooley‘s Note From The Universe, stating the same:

First, as a child, it seems like the entire world is there for you and you rush to drink from its every cup, sometimes wondering to yourself how anything could ever be more fun.

Then, as you grow older, if you’re observant, you realize much of what you enjoy was made possible by the contributions, work, and labor of those who came before you, and you’re taken aback, disappointed even , because with maturity you can now see cracks in the façades, imperfections in the details, and 10,000 ways it could have all been done better.

At which point, folks typically choose one of two paths: Spend a lifetime lamenting how far from perfect things are. Or, to one degree or another, roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

And should they choose the latter with gusto, dear Martien, they will come to know, to the core of their sacred being, that the differences they might make in the world cannot be made by another. And then they will discover the answer to their often-wondered childhood question… That the most fun one can have in time and space comes from making such a difference, and that the joy derived from serving is 10,000 times that of being served.

At your service –

The Universe

Oh, no, Martien. This doesn’t mean life becomes all work and no play. It just means work becomes play, no matter what you do, and play becomes ecstasy.
