Crowdsourcing Directory

Just one day after my regestration at [[Cambrian House, Home of Crowdsourcing]], Carl at [http://creativecrowds.com Creative Crowds] tipped me on the [http://www.crowdsourcingdirectory.com/ Crowdsourcing Directory].

Uhmpf… awful lot of creative crowd work going on. A sheer infinite flurry of innovation sources. Howcome I only see this now? Wonderful! Diving into it because I will find the fertile ground where my, sometimes wild and big ideas, are valued and will flourish.

ZFS on a laptop

[http://blogs.sun.com/erickustarz/ Eric Kustarz]’s excellent point in favour of using [http://blogs.sun.com/erickustarz/entry/zfs_on_a_laptop ZFS for your laptop] to create a ”’extremely reliable store for all your personal data”’.

Sun Microsystems is really making a change here. Wish for ZFS to become abuntantly ubiquitous.

Next: swap a disk a day with your friend to have a copy of your data at a remote place when you’re house burns down or someone drops a bomb.

Beyond that: the [http://wiki.aardrock.com/Wizard_Rabbit_Treasurer Wizard, Rabbit and Treasurer] keep all your data safe in sync in a fully distributed self-organizing and self-healing peer-to-peer network.

**Sander Dullaart van Favela Fabric over teruggeven van aandacht, vraaggestuurd aanbod.
**Gert Hans Berghuis van Fabrique over drijfveren en zingeving voor co-creatie, samen met user generated value (i.t.t. user generated content). Ik creëer dus ik besta. Zo inline met Thoughts Become Things van Mike Dooley (van The Secret).
**René Jansen van Winkwaves over afstemmen op persona’s t.b.v. co-creatie.
**Pim Betist van Sell-a-Band; echt super! Ze hebben de eerst vijf artiesten die elk $50k hebben verzameld en nu professioneel aan de slag gaan. Totaal hebben ze $750k in kas, waarvan $500k dit jaar. 3k bands in 8 maanden tijd. You Are The Record Company.
*’k Heb met de meeste sprekers kort gesproken over Aloha en afgesproken een afspraak te maken. Vinden het een interessant concept.
*Aanloop bij de tafel was goed. Stonden lekker in het licht met een spotje erop. Met praatplaat van Dennis op A2 op een tafelezeltje.
*Wouter Boog, Visueel Vertaler van JAM, maakte grafisch verslag van de middag; trok veel aandacht en foto’s voor zowel JAM als Aloha.
*Wouter scant de platen nog in en dan zz we ze op de wiki.
*Emerce zal er ook wel wat mee doen in hun verslag.
*Kreeg nog iemand van WWF (WNF) aan tafel; is bijzonder geïnteresseerd; WWF mogelijk als Aloha Associate?

Aarde blog live on Earth Day

Creating a ”’brand new country”’ is a startling endeavour. And today is Earth Day. An excellent day to go public with my passion. I’m giving it my whole heart, soul, and mind.

Previously code-named [http://wiki.aardrock.com/LandONE LandONE], I’ve renamed it to ”’Aarde”’. I’ve started the [http://aardsource.org/ Aarde blog]—domainnames aarde.org and aarde.net are already taken, so I’ve opted for ”’AardSource”’ as name space—an inexhaustable and ever abundant well for everything Aarde. A Wiki for global collaboration will follow soon.

Some ask me, why the name ‘Aarde’? It’s really quite simple. Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon was once asked how he came up with the name ”’Amazon”’. “Well, it’s the largest river on Earth and it starts with an A.”. (the latter having an excellent free marketing value—you’re always near the top of alphabetical lists). I’ve never forgotten his answer.

In the same spirit ”’Aarde”’:
*is the largest planet around that has life on it (as far as we know);
*starts with a double A;
*has a Dutch connection—my home country.

”’Excellent idea Amy!”’ Sure hope that Steve bites. And while at it, diabetes software can use an upgrade as well.

Reminds me of ”’Cheetah”’: First half of 2006 a small team of students have been working on Cheetah—a fully distributed self-learning (smart) peer-to-peer community-based diabetes open source software system.

Oh, how nice it would be for my daughter with diabetes to have the two “marry”.

The book is a collection of research essays covering topics such as open source motivation, economics, business models, software development process and tools, law, and community. The primary benefits the piece uses to argue in favor of OSS include ”’no licensing fees”’, and ”’no license keys”’. The article also argues that OSS results in ”’freedom from ‘ownership”” by software vendors. ‘Never again will you fear the BSA (Business Software Alliance) knocking on your door wanting to perform a software audit. The BSA even takes out advertisements on Google search pages for and up to $200,000 reward a disgruntled ex-employee can receive for reporting your company to the BSA! That’s quite a powerful motivator…”
