Vanaf deze week ligt de vertaling ‘Apen & denkers’ ook hier in de boekhandel. De Waal keert zich tegen de theorie dat de menselijke moraal door cultuur wordt bepaald. Volgens De Waal is de moraal juist een product van de evolutie en bewijst dit met zijn uitgebreide onderzoek naar apen.

Gaston Vilé was searching for the essential difference between ”’consciousness”’ and ”’awareness”’. While on the phone, I told him that Amit Goswami’s The Self-Aware Universe has an extensive point on this very difference. I promised Gaston to make the key pages available to him, and so I did.

Heyboer also talks about God. I tend to use the term ”’Universe”’ latelely. Although I was raised as a Christian (gereformeerd), my scope is widened to include many, if not all, religions around the world. Buddhism as it’s most neutral and integral one (and Buddhism is not a religion, as you may know). The term “Universe”, for me, is more, yes, universal. ”’God”’ is still this almighty bearded person for me.

In de ring voor democratie

:In het kader van de themaweek over democratie bij de publieke omroep heeft wereldkampioen boksen en boeddhist Lucia Rijker gesprekken met vier mensen uit verschillende disciplines over wat democratie voor hen persoonlijk betekent.
Diep spul dat aanzet tot nadenken en (zelf)reflectie. Tussen de regels door ”’voel” je de waarheid. En het geeft—als je er open voor staat en de antennes er voor hebt—een glimp van het “beloofde land”…
…Want dat zit er, hoe je het ook wend of keert, aan te komen. Aarde kruipt in versneld tempo naar een volgende orde toe. Aarde is begonnen aan een ”’metamorfose”’.
Net zoals de vlinder doorbreekt uit de rups, dient zich op dit moment een nieuwe verschijningsvorm aan. Echter nu op wereldschaal. Deze nieuwe Aarde verschilt kwalitief, dus kwa aard, enorm van de verschijnselen waaruit zij is ontstaan. En deze metamorfose is, net als bij de overgang van rups naar vlinder, ”’een strijd van leven en dood voor beide vormen”’.
De vlinder wil echter ontstaan, doorbreken. En dat gaat ten koste van de rups. Dus wat wil op dit moment doorbreken? Wij weten het nog niet. Maar dat het ”’onvermijdelijk”’ is en dat het anders zal zijn en dat veel van onze huidige handelingen en processen drastisch zullen veranderen staat als een paal boven water. We staan voor een splitsing.
Dat geeft hoop, althans voor mij. Ik zet me schrap voor de innerlijke strijd op wereldschaal en kijk met verlangen uit naar de nieuwe, aanstaande vorm.
En democratie, zo zie een van de sprekers, is de minst slechte van alle slechte systemen. Wat is de volgende cratie, zo vraag ik kij dan af. Mijn punten en aandacht gaan daarvoor op dit moment naar [http://holacratie.nl holacratie].

- Rather than having all hosts communicate to a central server or set of servers, Storm uses a peer-to-peer network for C2.
- And even if a C2 node is taken down, the system doesn’t suffer. Like a hydra with many heads, Storm’s C2 structure is distributed.
Reminds me of an experiment I did we did with Jini and RIO. Once started up on several computers, we just couldn’t get the system down. Kill one, and somewhere else a new one pops up. Thought of desigining in a “suicide pill” that would trigger on some special message spread across the net.

They are offering two very unique methods of purchase for their new music, the ability to name your own price for a digital download or the ability to purchase a special ‘discbox’ which will contain the album on CD and vinyl in addition to a horde of goodies. Will be interesting to see how this new model works out for them and what it might do to more traditional methods.
